Psychedelic Psychotherapy for Private Practice: Cannabis & Ketamine

An introduction to a full training in psychedelic psychotherapy for clinicians!

About this Event

Join us for a three-hour discussion on how to provide psychedelic psychotherapy in a mental health setting using cannabis and ketamine. Denver-based clinic Innate Path has been testing and providing psychedelic treatment using these readily available or FDA-approved medicines for years. Combined with a non-ordinary state somatic therapy that changes the processing pathway from cognition and insight towards the autonomic nervous system, these medicines generates a clear psychedelic, therapeutically useful response.

Serving as an introduction to a full training in psychedelic psychotherapy for clinicians, this talk:

Discusses the legal and licensing considerations of implementing these medicines into a private practice.

Details a therapeutically useful map of the autonomic nervous system & how the body serves as a processing pathway for psychedelic medicine.

Discusses the transference dynamics of working in psychedelic states

Provides an opportunity to view sample video sessions

Bio:

Saj Razvi is the Director of Education at Innate Path. He was a clinical researcher in the MAPS Phase 2 trial of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). His primary focus is on the wide scale adoption and accessibility of psychedelic therapy through training therapists to work with cannabis and ketamine assisted therapy in private practice settings. Saj is fine tuning the Innate Path non-ordinary state somatic psychotherapy model to amplify the effectiveness of psychedelic medicines. He has taught trauma studies as faculty at the University of Denver as well as being a national topic expert for PESI education seminars focusing on complex PTSD. Saj is the primary author of the Innate Path training manual for clinicians and he is part of the program evaluation process taking place at Innate Path to validate the use of cannabis in mental health.

Dr. Jeffrey Gold in the New York Times Article by Jane Brody

On April 29th Jane Brody of the New York Times wrote a piece titled Virtual Reality as Therapy for Pain.

“It’s not just a distraction — it’s like an endogenous narcotic providing a physiological and chemical burst that causes you to feel good,” said Jeffrey I. Gold, director of the pediatric pain management clinic at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Unlike listening to music or watching television, virtual reality “immerses the patient in an entertaining, relaxing, interactive environment that so occupies the brain, it has no room to process pain sensations at the same time.”
