Carly M. Rogers, OTD, OTR/L
Clinical occupational therapist and independent researcher. Carly’s area of expertise is focused on surf therapy and creating access to the healing effects of the ocean and surfing through a program titled Ocean Therapy. She has presented at the regional, national and international level both on the topics of surf therapy and occupational therapy’s role with veterans diagnosed with combat PTSD. Dr. Rogers is the primary author of “High-Intensity Sports for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Depression: Feasibility Study of Ocean Therapy With Veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom".
Amy Wagenfeld, PhD, OTR/L, SCEM, EDAC, FAOTA
Principal of Amy Wagenfeld | Design and Lecturer in the Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Program at Boston University. Amy presents and publishes widely on topics relating access to nature. She is co-author of the award-winning book, Therapeutic Gardens: Design for Healing Spaces published by Timber Press. When not designing gardens, researching, or developing garden programs, Amy can be found happily digging in the dirt.
Daniel Winterbottom, RLA, FASLA
Landscape architect and Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Washington. In 1995 he developed a design/build program, through which he and his students work with communities to design and build projects that provide amenities, address social of ecological concerns and provide therapeutic environments for those struggling with traumatic experiences and mental health issues. Mr. Winterbottom developed and incorporates a participatory design process in these service-learning projects to create responsive design solutions for communities in need. His book Healing Gardens, co-authored with Amy Wagenfeld was released in 2015. His awards include the Council of Educators of Landscape Architecture Outstanding Educator award, 2007, the University of Washington 2006 S. Sterling Munro Public Service Teaching Award, American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award for Community Service 2007, ALSA Honor Awards for Community Service 207, 2011 and 2013, the EDRA/Places Great Places Award, 2010 and was inducted as a Fellow in ASLA in 2011.
